Fall Flowers in Utah

Just before we went to Missouri and Arkansas about 2 weeks ago, I snipped off all the flower heads so they would keep blooming if it didn’t freeze.  It didn’t freeze, so I had luscious blooms on all the flowers when we got back here to Utah. Marigolds have done the best here, but they all need water most days.  I only have a few zinnias blooming.   I only planted a few seeds and they were for the smaller variety.  Next year I hope to plant larger zinnias.  We have some ground cover we are trying to see how it does.  The one in the tub is doing great, and going out of the tub and hanging down the sides and has  a small fragile yellow flower.  My alyssum had a hard time getting started from seed, but is doing well.  The seeds are so very small. Petunias didn’t come back very well, but some of them had about gotten tired of blooming. There is a picture of a yellow sage; it’s volunteer so I let it stay where it was at the SW corner of  the house.  The Naked Ladies already bloomed and went away, but I Have mums about to bloom, but they are small.

catch ya later, Eb

Mom you are a whiz with flowers, especially marigolds! I never have any luck with marigolds.

Send me some photos of your garden… I know it’s still doing well, but you’ll have to hurry before it freezes!

    Love ya, S.

Oh thank you so much Sarah for helping with my Blog..Hopefully this winter I can knuckle down and do some. I have a couple shots of the garden with the wall photos, will check and see if I sent those to you…The garden got a bit of frost, so is not looking goood. Maybe I can try and get some closeups of the peppers, I think they still look good. Been waiting to let them get as bigs as possible and turn the color they should be, like yellow and the red ones. I planted red, yellow and green peppers. We have tons of green tomatoes and enough red ones to keep us okay. It was 38 last night. Will have the 90′s for a week more then we look for a hard freeze, so I have to be carefull so we don’t loose our stuff. The tomatoes are falling over, we used the real large, heavy duty cages. The tomato plants got so big, the wind took them down a bit. They are about 5′ tall. Next year we will have to put stakes our with guy wires to keep them upright. Guess our soil is doing ok after all….love you…mom
